From our humble origins – our family-run company began with a small fleet of coaches in Urmston, Manchester in 1978 – to the modern day, we have amassed a wealth of experience. The quality and extent of our fleet of coaches is unrivalled anywhere across the country. The passenger capacity ranges from 6- 16 for our minibuses and up to 72 for our coaches. Each coach is air conditioned to ensure you travel at a comfortable temperature. Coaches are also fitted with reclining chairs and ample leg room, USB charging facilities and toilet facilities complete with hands free washing systems. In terms of safety, features include: ABS braking, lane guidance and 3-point seat belting. Every 6 to 9 weeks each coach is serviced and given a safety check as per requirements stipulated by the VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency). You can therefore enjoy the luxurious fittings and interiors of our coaches safe in the knowledge that your vehicle is also fitted with the latest safety technology. Each coach has plenty of room for your luggage requirements. Coaches are comprehensively cleaned between journeys.

In recent years Ashton-in-Makerfield have developed bespoke holiday packages which cover much of the UK from Cornwall to the Cairngorms. We only work with high quality, characterful and family-run hotels. Many of these hotels are set in wonderful locations such as the Coniston Beck Hotel in the beautiful Lake District and the Cotswolds Lydon Hotel with its charming honeycombed exterior; many customers have related how, after disembarking, they enjoyed sipping a drink of the Lydon Hotel terrace bar overlooking the beautiful Stroud Valley. We aim always to ensure our service is as inclusive as possible and, with this in mind, we have recently acquired 2 coaches with wheelchair access. We are looking to increase this provision in the future.
Minibus hire is an integral part of the service we provide offering smaller parties a stylish option for shorter journeys. Seating capacity ranges from 6-16. All minibuses have air-conditioning and comfortable seating. Some of our most popular minibus requests are for day trips, airport transfers, transport to sporting events, and stag or hen parties. Our prices are competitive, and we will always aim to meet specific needs and budgets. Wheelchair access is available in the larger minibuses. Unwin 4-point webbing is used to secure the wheelchair so as to ensure maximum stability.
Ashton-in-Makerfield is one of the foremost companies involved in the transportation of sports teams across the UK. Our level of service is unmatched and that’s no doubt the reason that many premiership teams rely on us for matchday travel. But it’s not just the teams - our coaches are also used by fans to get to those same fixtures. We also provide transport for both teams and fans of such sports as cricket, motor-racing, golf, rugby and horse racing.
We provide travel for school pupils and also for older students of colleges and universities. Our modern fleet is staffed with CRB-checked drivers who are experienced in transporting such pupil and student groups. Appreciating that the budgets of academic institutions have been cut in recent years, where required, we will always work to find the most cost-efficient solutions.
